Located along the Scottsdale Road and Loop 101 corridor in North Phoenix, the design vision for the SmartRent corporate office focused on creating a modern, high-contrast workspace. Rather than relying on standard drop ceilings and flat white walls, the architectural plan called for a bold industrial aesthetic. The design intent required deep, dark exposed structural ceilings contrasted against crisp, light gray walls to create a sense of expansive height and modern sophistication. Executing this level of intentional contrast across a large-scale tenant improvement project required a commercial painting contractor capable of delivering sharp lines, uniform coverage, and flawless adhesion across several surfaces.

Valley Paint was contracted by Arizona Industrial Properties (API) to complete all the interior painting for the tenant improvement project. The installation covered the entire office footprint, including all interior gypsum walls, exposed structural deck ceilings, hollow metal door frames, and wood doors.
Why These Coatings Matter
A successful corporate office requires specific finish systems tailored to each surface. For the walls, we applied a durable eggshell finish, which provides superior washability and light reflection in high-traffic corridors compared to a standard flat paint. The defining feature of the space — the dark exposed structural deck — required specialized dryfall or direct-to-metal coatings designed to adhere securely to raw steel and overhead mechanicals while creating a uniform, light-absorbing canopy.
For the high-contact areas, including hollow metal frames and wood doors, our team utilized commercial-grade alkyd urethane semi-gloss. This specific coating cures to a much harder film than standard latex, providing exceptional scratch resistance and ensuring the doors maintain a premium appearance through years of heavy daily use.

Furthermore, executing the sharp, clean lines where the dark ceiling meets the light gray walls demands absolute precision to maintain the modern, architectural aesthetic.
